Vol. 430 No. 6

Written Answers. - Work-Sharing.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

61 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of persons within his Department who are currently operating on a work-sharing basis; and if he intends to encourage a higher percentage of his staff to become involved in work-sharing projects.

At present 334 staff of my Department are job-sharing in grades ranging from clerical assistant to assistant principal. This represents over 8 per cent of serving staff in my Department. Details of numbers job-sharing in each grade are set out in the following tabular statement which will be made available to the Deputy.

The management of the Department encourages and co-operates with staff who wish to job-share. The number availing of the facility has been increasing which indicates that the job-sharing arrangements are attractive to staff.
