Vol. 430 No. 6

Written Answers. - Assurance Company Strike.

Mary Flaherty

Question:

82 Miss Flaherty asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the progress, if any, that has been made to bring about the end of the strike in the Royal Liver Assurance Company which has been going on for the past four weeks.

The strike commenced at the company's head office in Dublin on 15 April in a dispute over the allocation of collection areas to the company's collection agents. Negotiations involving a number of conciliation conferences were held under the Labour Relations Commission. On basis of these discussions settlement proposals emerged which were accepted by both sides and normal working has resumed.
