Vol. 430 No. 7

Written Answers. - Individual Petitions.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

50 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Justice the reason a petition on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary was refused on 19 August 1991, even though all the facts of the case were presented and, then, subsequently, a positive response was given; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It would be contrary to long-established practice and, I am satisfied, inappropriate for me as Minister for Justice to deal at Question Time with individual petitions for the remission or mitigation of penalties.
