Vol. 430 No. 7

Written Answers. - Listowel (Kerry) Garda Station.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

57 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Justice if he will provide the necessary finance to ensure that the accommodation at Listowel Garda Station, County Kerry, is brought up to standard.

I am advised by the Garda authorities that a major renovation scheme is required at Listowel Garda station, County Kerry. It is proposed to refurbish the existing building and to incorporate the adjacent married quarters, thereby providing much needed additional accommodation.

It is my objective to have all station accommodation brought up to an acceptable standard within the minimum possible time-scale. However, the Deputy will appreciate that, given available resources, each project must be addressed within the context of overall priorities throughout the country. It is not possible to say when work will commence at Listowel but I can assure the Deputy that there will be no avoidable delay.
