Vol. 430 No. 7

Written Answers. - Connemara Farmland and Commonage.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

96 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the current position regarding farmland and commonage situated in Connemara, County Galway, which have been designated areas of scientific interest; if those farmers will qualify for all headage, forestry and other agricultural grants; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The areas mentioned by the Deputy are not a factor in the entitlement of farmers to headage payments.

Forestry and farm development grants are paid on condition that the development concerned is not environmentally damaging.
