Question:

19 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment the extent to which his Department has sought or received EC Structural Funds for the implementation of the social housing programme; if he will give this figure, if any, as a percentage of expenditure under this heading in 1993; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

No EC Structural Funds are available for social housing under existing arrangements. Proposals for the allocation of Structural Funds in the period 1994 to 1999 are being finalised at present. Pending consideration of the matter by the Government and by the EC Commission, it is not possible to say what funding will be available for any particular purpose.
