Vol. 431 No. 1

Written Answers. - Traffic Management.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

25 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for the Environment if he will issue advice or directives to the relevant authorities to redirect heavy or through traffic in residential areas to reduce the risk of accidents, particularly with regard to children.

A decision to implement traffic management measures on these lines at particular locations is a matter for each local authority acting with the consent, or at the request, of the Garda Commissioner. It would not be appropriate for me to issue directives to local authorities regarding the use of such permissive powers.
