Vol. 431 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grocery Trade Workers.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

92 Mr. Broughan asked the Taoiseach the numbers and ratios of casual workers, part-time workers and full-time workers in the grocery business and, in particular, in the large multiples for each of the years from 1983 to 1993.

The information requested by the Deputy is obtained from periodic Censuses of Services. The last Census was held in 1988 and the previous one in 1977. The numbers and percentages of persons engaged in outlets in the grocery trade in the two Censuses are given below.

Details for "large multiples" are not available from the 1977 Census of Distribution but are provided for 1988 for firms operating 10 or more outlets.
