Vol. 431 No. 4

Written Answers. - Annual Report and Accounts of An Bord Tráchtála.

Pat Cox

Question:

26 Mr. Cox asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the reason the annual report and accounts of An Bord Tráchtála for 1992 have not been furnished; the nature of the delays which exist in relation to such reports; the plans, if any, he has to ensure that they are produced more punctually; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The main elements of the annual report for 1992 were incorporated in the board's Annual Review and Outlook 1992-93 which the Minister for Tourism and Trade launched on 1 March last. This sets out An Bord Tráchtála's contribution to Ireland's export marketing performance in 1992 and outlines its proposed activities in 1993.

The 1992 accounts of An Bord Tráchtála are in the course of being audited by the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General. When the audit is completed, the report and accounts will be submitted to the Minister and laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas.

I understand that the speed at which the audit is conducted is constrained by the resources available to the Comptroller and Auditor General.
