Vol. 431 No. 6

Written Answers. - St. Michael's Hospital, Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin.

Seán Barrett

Question:

128 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the waiting list for children needing treatment for ear problems at St. Michael's Hospital, Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, is approximately seven months; and the steps, if any, he intends taking to deal with this problem.

The Deputy will be aware of the Major Action Programme on In-Patient Waiting Lists which I launched recently. As part of the programme, St. Michael's Hospital will receive £125,000 and, of this amount, £47,000 is being allocated to children's ENT in the hospital. I am pleased to say that, in the case of children's ENT at St. Michael's, the target set for additional procedures in 1993 under the major action programme is greater than the number of children currently on in-patient waiting lists in excess of six months.
