Question:

22 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if the forthcoming equal status legislation will apply to the private as well as the public sector; if, in particular, it will apply to religious organisations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The equal status legislation to which the Deputy refers is at the early stages of preparation. It would not be possible or appropriate to give details at this point of the provisions which it might contain. I can confirm that in general, it will apply to the private sector.
