Vol. 431 No. 7

Written Answers - Issue of Publicans' Licences.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

46 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Finance the number of ordinary publicans' seven day licences issued by the Customs and Excise in each of the years 1991 and 1992.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that Customs and Excise issued 10,011 publicans' seven day licences in the calendar year 1991 and 5,999 in the calendar year 1992. The marked reduction in the 1992 figure is associated with the introduction of tax clearance requirements for the issue of these licences. The up-to-date position on the tax clearance issue is set out in my reply of 20 May last to a question from Deputy Enda Kenny.
