Vol. 431 No. 7

Written Answers - Comments by FÁS Chairman.

Liz McManus

Question:

52 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if his attention has been drawn to recent reports of comments made by a person (details supplied), while defending a case taken by the Employment Equality Agency against the IT&GWU, which many people would regard as sexist and insulting to women; his views on whether such comments should have been made by a person who is now chairman of FAS; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have seen the reports in question and the response of the FÁS chairman to them.

I am satisfied that the current chairman of FÁS is fully committed to Government policy on equality of opportunity and that FÁS's record in that area verifies that commitment.
