Question:158 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for Defence if women can apply for cadetships in the naval service; and if so, the conditions, if any, that apply to such applications.

At present women are not eligible for recruitment to the Naval Service. However, the matter is under active consideration with a view to resolving those difficulties which up to now have prevented women from serving in the Naval Service.
