Vol. 432 No. 1

Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation on Culliton Report.

John Bruton

Question:

119 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if he has any proposals to introduce legislation to deal with any aspect of the Government decisions on the Culliton report; and if so, if he will give details of the proposed legislation.

The Government's decisions on the Culliton report were published by my colleague, Deputy Quinn, Minister for Enterprise and Employment, on 3 May last in a document entitled "Employment Through Enterprise".

The only area where changes are recommended by the Culliton report and where I have primary responsibility for the introduction of legislation is the area of taxation. The implementation of the Government's decision on taxation, given on page 14 of the above publication, will be in the context of the budgets and Finance Acts to be introduced by the Government over the next four years.
