Vol. 432 No. 1

Written Answers. - Harrassment Allegation.

Tony Gregory

Question:

132 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if she will investigate the alleged harassment of a person (details supplied) by gardaí; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that there are no grounds for the allegation of harassment in the case to which he refers.

I might add that it is always open to a person who considers he or she has grounds for complaint against members of An Garda Síochána to have his or her complaint investigated by the Garda Síochána Complaints Board which was established to investigate complaints from the public about alleged misconduct on the part of members of the Garda Síochána. A complaint must be made within six months of the date of the alleged misconduct.
