Vol. 432 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sligo General Hospital.

Edward Nealon

Question:

111 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Health if there will be any closure of beds or wards in Sligo General Hospital in summer, 1993; and, if so, the extent of any such closures.

The North-Western Health Board has advised me that the question of seasonal closures over the coming months at Sligo Hospital is under review in the context of the board's 1993 revenue allocation and the hospital's maintenance and development requirements.

Question:

113 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Health the impact the extra money granted to reduce the waiting lists of Sligo General Hospital will have on the waiting lists; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 112 and 113 together.

The North-Western Health Board has advised me that the numbers presently on the waiting lists by each specialty are as follows:

E.N.T.

The allocation of additional moneys towards the waiting list initiative will allow for the following additional procedures to be carried out at Sligo General Hospital in addition to its projected 1993 activity:

E.N.T.

Orthopaedics

170
