Vol. 432 No. 3

Written Answers. - Untreated Sewage Disposal.

Ivor Callely

Question:

112 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to any adverse reports with regard to the effect untreated sewage disposal at Howth Head may have on the waters in that vicinity; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Dublin Corporation are preparing a preliminary report for a proposal to provide secondary treatment facilities to serve Howth and other areas. This report will examine the effects of the existing discharge and develop proposals to eliminate the discharge of untreated waste water to Dublin Bay. The proposal has been included in the list of environmental projects for which EC co-financing is being sought under the Cohesion Fund.
