Vol. 432 No. 3

Written Answers. - Army Recruitment Campaign.

Noel Ahern

Question:

128 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Defence when it is intended to have a new recruitment campaign for army recruits; and if a long-serving FCA sergeant can join the Permanent Defence Forces, even at a reduced rank.

The question of recruitment for general service is kept under review in the light of operational requirements. However, it is not possible at this stage to say when the next intake of recruits will take place.

Any person who satisfies the requirements as to age, health and character is eligible to be considered for enlistment in the Permanent Defence Force.
