Vol. 432 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tax Allowance.

John Bruton

Question:

34 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Meath will receive a decision from the Inspector of Taxes regarding married person's allowance: and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer concerned qualifies for the married person's allowance and an amended certificate of tax free allowances for 1993-94 will issue to him shortly.

To give the taxpayer the benefit of the allowance for the year of marriage, the inspector requires the taxpayer to return the completed Return of Income/Claim for Allowances form, form P.60 for 1992-93 and certificates of mortgage interest paid.
