Vol. 432 No. 6

Written Answers. - Wood Processing Plant.

John Connor

Question:

24 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will make a statement on the proposed new wood processing plant somewhere in the State; the likely employment content in the project; the location of the plant preferred by him; and his views on whether the most appropriate location would be in an area close to the major blocks of the national forest estates where there are already high rates of unemployment such as in the Arigna area in County Roscommon.

It would be inappropriate for me to make any statement on such a delicate matter other than to confirm what Coillte have already said publicly in this regard, that negotiations are under way between them and a third party and these have not been concluded.

In the event of such negotiations being concluded successfully, then the location would be a matter for the promoters.
