254 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Health if he will provide artificial limbs for children on the same free basis as dental or physiotherapy services; and if he will give an estimate of the annual cost which this proposal would entail.
Artificial limbs, where required, are supplied free of charge to medical card holders. In the case of persons with limited eligibility, health boards may provide assistance towards the cost of prescribed appliances. I have no plans to change this service.
The cost of the Deputy's proposal is not available to my Department.
