Question:53 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason heifers are not allowed to qualify for the beef premium scheme; and the steps, if any, he intends to take to correct this anomaly.
Written Answers. - Special Beef Premium.
The purpose of the EC special beef premium is to compensate producers for reductions in intervention support. Since heifers are not eligible for intervention the question of compensation does not arise.
