Vol. 433 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hill of Slane (Meath) Development.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

49 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Finance the plans or intentions, if any, he has to develop the Hill of Slane site, County Meath, to its full potential similar to the development which was done at the Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary; the plans, if any, he has to develop St. Erc's Hermitage at Slane; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are no plans to undertake major works at the Hill of Slane, which is in the guardianship of the Commissioners of Public Works, but is privately owned.

The office is finalising the acquisition of St. Erc's Hermitage and will carry out conservation works when this process is completed.
