Question:

54 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Social Welfare the initiatives, if any, he will be taking, legislative or otherwise, to comply with the terms of the Maastricht Treaty; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

55 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Social Welfare if there are any measures required to be taken in his remit of responsibility to comply with the terms of the Single Market; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 54 and 55 together. The legislation for which I am responsible complies with the provisions of the Maastricht Treaty. There are no measures or initiatives to be taken by my Department to comply with the terms of the Single Market.
