Written Answers. - Occupiers' Liability.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

24 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if, in view of the fact that the Law Reform Commission has published its report on occupiers' liability and the distress being caused to the farmers, he intends to implement, by way of legislation, the main recommendation of the Commission.

Michael McDowell

Question:

30 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if he has considered the Law Reform Commission's consultative paper on occupiers' liability; if so, if he intends to implement its main recommendations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 24 and 30 together.

The Law Reform Commission's Consultative Paper was published on 14 June last. I have had the opportunity to examine its principl recommendations and, as I anticipated, the work done by the Commission is likely to be of great value to my Department.
