Vol. 433 No. 5

Written Answers. - Regrassing of Hoardings at Clarke's Bridge.

Tony Gregory

Question:

46 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance if he will have arrangements made to have the Office of Public Works regrass the area under and around the hoardings at Clarkes Bridge, Summerhill Parade, Dublin 1, which was under grass before the Office of Public Works commenced renewal work on the Royal Canal in Dublin.

The land in question is not owned by the Office of Public Works but was sold many years ago to Messrs. David Allen who erected the advertising hoarding on the site. The Office of Public Works used part of the site to gain access for vehicles involved in the restoration of the canal and to do so removed a large quantity of debris from the site which transformed its appearance for the better and even after its use by the vehicles, its present condition is a considerable improvement. The Office of Public Works do not have any resource at present to carry out landscaping works and in any event it does not have ownership of the land in question.
