Vol. 433 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cost of Interpretative Centres Newsletters.

Avril Doyle

Question:

50 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Finance the cost of the leaflets and questionnaires being circulated as part of the consultation process on the three Interpretative Centres at the Burren, Luggala and the Boyne; the cost to the Office of Public Works of bringing all the County Councillors in Wicklow to Glenveagh, County Donegal and the Céide Fields, County Mayo; and whether the politically personalised literature is appropriate.

The cost of the Information Newsletters being circulated as part of the consultation process on three Visitor Centres at the Burren, and Wicklow National Parks and the Boyne Valley is 32p per copy approximately.

The cost of bringing the County Councillors in Wicklow to Glenveagh and the Ceide Fields will not be known until the visits take place.

The newsletters form part of the consultation process required by Government and are aimed at the widest possible dissemination of information about the three centres in the relevant countries. I need the views of the widest cross section of the population in the three areas concerned and accordingly I have made a direct appeal to the general public to let me have their comments. In the circumstances I do not see how the literature could be described as politically personalised.
