Vol. 433 No. 5

Written Answers. - Major Emergency Plan.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

81 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if, having regard to Parliamentary Question No. 88 of Wednesday, 23 June 1993 and the answer thereto, he will outline the main points incorporated in the appropriate advice and guidelines including guidelines in relation to control and co-ordination arrangements based on a common framework for a co-ordinated response to major emergencies which was approved by Government in 1984; if these guidelines are now being fully observed; the way in which they are administered; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have arranged for a copy of the model major emergency plan and associated documentation which issued to local authorities on 19 February 1985 to be placed in the Oireachtas Library. On the question of implementation, I refer to the reply to Question No. 88 on 23 June 1993.
