Vol. 433 No. 6

Private Members' Business. - Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1993: Second Stage.

Question proposed: "That the Bill be now read a Second Time."

This is important legislation and as soon as the Bill is enacted I plan to make a guide available which will explain in a practical and straightforward manner the provisions of this substantial Bill.

On the last occasion the Minister and I were in the House together I accused him of filibustering. When will Committee Stage be taken?

Tuesday next, with the agreement of the Whips.

When does the Minister propose introducing a consolidated set of regulations on this matter?

Sin ceist eile, but we will certainly give it consideration, although it would be a big undertaking.

There is no point having a consolidated Bill without a consolidated set of regulations.

Question put and agreed to.
