Question:36 Mrs. Doyle asked the Minister for Health his views on a proposed Europe-wide advertising ban on tobacco products; and the initiatives he proposes to take in this regard.
Written Answers. - Tobacco Products Advertising Ban.
At the EC Council of Health Ministers which was held in Brussels on 27 May, 1993 I indicated my support for an EC ban on the advertising of tobacco products. Such a ban is an integral component of an effective anti-tobacco strategy and I propose to continue to press my European colleagues to agree to such an initiative.
