Written Answers. - Westmeath Regional Water Schemes.

Question:

92 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment when he will give sanction to the Mullingar regional scheme, County Westmeath, covering Drummond to Killucan as the scheme, which will cost only £415,000, has been with his Department awaiting sanction for a number of years.

The contract documents for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. Having regard to the overall demands under the water and sanitary services programme, I am not in a position to indicate when a decision may be made.

93 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment when the NorthWest low line extension of Mullingar regional water supply extending through Ballymarcargy to Ballymore will be sanctioned.

The tender for this scheme is under consideration in my Department. However, having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sanitary services programme, I am not in a position to indicate when a decision may be made.

94 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment when sanction will be given to the Annagh Reservoir and pipelines situated at Glasson, Athlone, County Westmeath, as the tender is with his Department awaiting sanction for a considerable period of time.

Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sanitary services programme, it is not possible for me to indicate when a decision on this scheme may be made.

Question:

95 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Environment when the south-east regional water supply extension to Tyrellspass, County Westmeath, will be sanctioned, as the water quality in this area is extremely poor.

A preliminary report has recently been received for this scheme and is under examination in my Department.
