167 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that there is a residential facility made available at Rathdrum in County Wicklow as a matter of urgency as it is being proposed by Sunbeam House Services and in view of the need in the area.
Capital funding of £50,000 has been made available from the additional funds provided in 1993 for the development of mental handicap services towards the development of residential services by Sunbeam House. Consequently, the Eastern Health Board has been working closely with Sunbeam House to develop a service in Rathdrum. Tenders have been received with regard to the renovation and upgrading of a premises and this work will proceed immediately. Assessments of suitable clients for this unit have been undertaken and the service should initiated in early 1994.
