Written Answers. - Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanners.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

174 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Health the total number of magnetic resonance imaging scanners available in the State; the location of such scanners; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A magnetic resonance imaging scanner has recently been provided at Beaumont Hospital to meet the needs of the public hospital service. This facility has cost approximatley £2 million which is being met from the capital resources available to my Department.

Magnetic resonance imaging facilities are also available at the following private hospitals: The Mater Private Hospital, St. Vincent's Private Hospital and the Blackrock Clinic.
