Vol. 434 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Tipperary School Appointment.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

198 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education when a resource teacher will be made available to a school (details supplied) in County Tipperary to provide support for staff in coping with student integration; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The creation of additional resource teacher posts in national schools in a particular year depends upon the teaching resources which can be made available in that year. When posts become available they are allocated on the basis of priority of need, following the collection of data from schools by my Department's Primary Inspectorate. While no resource teacher appointments have been made to date in 1993, the question of further such appointments is being actively considered. The needs of the school in question will be considered in this context.
