Question:

92 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance the total level of Government expenditure on current and capital expenditure, respectively, for the years 1972, 1982 and 1992; and the percentage increases for the same period for each heading.

Notes
1. The details for 1972-73 are in respect of the period 1 April 1972 to 31 March 1973. The financial year changed to a calendar year basis from 1974.
2. There is a discontinuity in this series because of:
(a) the impact on the budgetary aggregates of the transfer of responsibilities to An Post and Bord Telecom from 1 January 1984, and
(b) changes in 1988 to the Local Loans Fund Subsidy which ended a system of circular payments within the Exchequer.
