Vol. 434 No. 6

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy M. Dukes — the current status of Allenwood Power Station, County Kildare, and the completion of the overhaul now taking place; (2) Deputy Durkan — the need to restore free transport facilities to a person (details supplied) in County Kildare, who was attending a special school until recently; (3) Deputy Sargent — the need to ensure that no further public money or land is handed over to the current Dublin Zoo Authorities until the Doyle report is published, given the imminent prospect of the dissolution of the Royal Zoological Society of Ireland and the transfer of all its assets, including animals, to a new limited liability company; (4) Deputy McGahon — the proposed acquisition of Cooley Distilleries by the Irish Distillers Group; and the implications of this proposal for the workforce in Counties Louth and Westmeath and for competition within the whiskey trade; (5) Deputy O'Malley — the decision to terminate the tenancy of a company (details supplied) in Dublin 9, resulting in the loss to date of 45 jobs and the likelihood of further job losses.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by the following Deputies (1) Deputy Durkan; (2) Deputy McGahon; (3) Deputy Dukes and (4) Deputy O'Malley.
