Vol. 434 No. 9

Written Answers. - Macroom (Cork) Bypass.

Michael Creed

Question:

159 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment the position regarding the proposed by-pass of Macroom town; the position regarding the proposed route and land acquisition; and whether it is proposed to have a link from the by-pass route into the centre of the town.

In 1987, my Department approved in principle a proposal by Cork County Council for a bypass of Macroom on a route to the north of the town. I understand that the council are considering an alteration to the preferred route to include a link to the western end of the town. At this stage, no commitment can be given in regard to funding for the proposed bypass.
