Vol. 434 No. 10

Written Answers. - Baleally (Dublin) Dump.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

59 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for the Marine if the environmental impact assessment into Rogerstown Estuary examined the option of the closure of Baleally tiphead and the control of leachate.

Dublin County Council has been requested to submit an environmental impact statement to the Department of the Marine in respect of its applications for a new lease of the existing reclaimed dump site and for permission to reclaim a further area of foreshore at Baleally. The statement, which is expected in the Department by the end of next month, will examine the likely environmental implications of these applications and will include the council's proposals for the containment and control of leachate. In addition, Dublin County Council has been requested to furnish detailed information on suitable alternative sites available for the disposal of the wastes in question.
