Vol. 434 No. 10

Written Answers. - Ferry Terminals.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

65 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Marine if he has received the report of the review group on port policy in Dublin Bay; his response to the report; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The final draft of the report on the Dublin Bay Ferry Terminal requirements study was received in the Department in September 1993. The report is at present being examined particularly in the context of announcements made over the summer regarding the coming on stream of new high speed ferry technology on the Holyhead-Dún Laoghaire route.

As soon as this examination is complete, I expect to be in a position to make a statement on development policy for ferry terminals in Dublin Bay having regard to the commitments in the National Development Plan for investment in both Dún Laoghaire Harbour and Dublin Port.
