Tipperary (SR) County Council submitted proposals in 1990 for a major realignment scheme on the N74 between Cashel and Tipperary, at an estimated cost of £10 million. The Council was informed that, in view of the limited funds available for works on National Secondary roads and the competing demands for these funds countrywide, it was not possible to provide funding for the scheme.
In recent years, a total of £310,000 has been allocated to the Council in respect of sight distance improvement works on the N74 between Cashel and Tipperary, including an allocation of £150,000 in the current year. The provision of funding for further improvements works on the route will be considered when the 1994 Road Grant allocations are being determined.
