Vol. 435 No. 2

Written Answers. - Castlecomer (Kilkenny) Garda Station.

Phil Hogan

Question:

62 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Justice when finance will be provided for the promised new Garda Station at Castlecomer, County Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The acquisition of a site/building for a new Garda Station in Castlecomer is being actively pursued.

When a suitable site/building is identified and purchased, plans for a new station will then be drawn up by the Office of Public Works and approved by my Department and the Garda authorities. It is only at this stage that the financial allocation for this project will be considered.

As the project is at such an early stage it is not possible to say how long this process will take but the Deputy can be assured that the project is being advanced as quickly as possible and that there will be no avoidable delay.
