Question:

45 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Justice the cost to her Department of extra security arising from the violence from the Northern Ireland crisis from the year 1969 to date; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The total additional security cost since 1969 to date arising from the Northern Ireland situation, in so far as the Votes administered by my Department are concerned, is estimated to be £875 million.
