Vol. 435 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Noel Ahern

Question:

71 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment if a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin has been approved and paid; if not, the reason for the delays; the number of such grants that have been paid to date in 1993; and the approximate number under consideration.

The grant to the person named has been paid.

Applications for grants on hands at any given time include a significant number which, for a variety of reasons, have not been, or will not be, approved or, though approved, will not mature for payment. Therefore, it is not possible to estimate the number of applications that are under consideration in respect of which a grant will ultimately be paid. The number of grants approved and paid annually is shown in the Department's Annual Housing Statistics Bulletins, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. In the period 1 January to 31 October, 1993, 4,100 grants were approved and 4,809 grants were paid.
