Vol. 435 No. 3

Written Answers. - State Body Employment Statistics.

Austin Deasy

Question:

102 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the numbers employed in each State body under his control, including those employed in subsidiaries and ancillary services; the annual salary and wages bill in each body relating to full-time employment; and the expenses and benefits in kind for each body.

I would refer the Deputy to the published accounts for State bodies operating under the aegis of my Department which are available from the Dáil Library and which include aggregate employee numbers and staff costs. A breakdown of staffing numbers and costs in terms of employee status is generally not available in these accounts as it is commercially privileged information.

Payment of expenses and benefits in kind to staff of State bodies is an operational matter for the individual companies concerned.
