Vol. 435 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions Written Answers. - Parking Fines.

Seán Haughey

Question:

35 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Justice the amount of money owed to the Garda Síochána arising from parking fines imposed on diplomatic cars operating in the State.

Under the Diplomatic Relations and Immunities Act, 1967 diplomats are immune from the criminal jurisdiction of the State. Any parking fines that may be imposed in error, therefore, are cancelled so that no money is owed in respect of such fines.
