Ceisteanna — Questions Written Answers. - Galvia Private Hospital, Galway.

Robert Molloy

Question:

102 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the restrictions being placed on admittance of VHI subscribers to Galvia Private Hospital, Galway by the Voluntary Health Insurance company; if so, the action, if any, he proposes to take to alleviate the problem this causes for the authorities at Galvia Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As Minister for Health I do not have any statutory responsibility in relation to Galvia Private Hospital, Galway, as it is a private institution. Decisions on insurance cover by the VHI Board in regard to services provided by individual hospitals or centres are a matter for the Voluntary Health Insurance Board.
