Question:

1 Mr. Bradford asked the Taoiseach the total number of employers in the country who employ less than ten people, between 11 and 20 people and between 21 and 50 people.

The information requested by the Deputy is provided in the following table for the sectors and size groups for which it is available.

(1) Excludes the State and semi-State sector, hospital, medical and dental practises, private education, private passenger transport and a small number of financial services (principally credit unions, HP firms and stock brokers).
(2) Includes all enterprises other than those with only one person engaged.
(3) Figures relate to establishments. An establishment is defined as a single economic activity conducted at a particular location.
(4) Includes only establishments with three or more persons engaged.
