Vol. 435 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions Written Answers. - Saggart (County Dublin) Speed Limits.

Chris Flood

Question:

13 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Justice if she will bring the serious concerns of the residents of Saggart, County Dublin at the excessive speed of vehicles, particularly heavy goods vehicles, using the school road, the Church road and the Springbank road, in Saggart, County Dublin, to the attention of the Garda Commissioner; and if she will request the Garda Commissioner to make the necessary arrangements to ensure that the speed limits are strictly enforced and dangerous driving of vehicles is curtailed.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the concerns of the residents of Saggart in regard to these matters have been brought to the attention of the divisional officer at Naas. As a result, instructions have been issued to the gardaí in the area that the speed limits are to be strictly enforced at the locations in question, and that breaches of the limits and incidents of dangerous driving detected by them are to be dealt with by way of prosecution.
