Vol. 435 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

Austin Deasy

Question:

29 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in payment of a beef premium for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and when payment will issue.

Processing of the application of the person named for grants under the December 1992 special beef premium scheme was delayed due to an oversight. It is being urgently processed at present with a view to early payment. The delay in making this payment is regretted. The person named did not apply for grants under the January-February 1993 or June 1993 special beef premium schemes.

Paul McGrath

Question:

30 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a slaughter premium will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; the reason for the delay as payment was sanctioned by the local office of his Department in August 1993.

The application of the person named for grants under the 1993 EC Deseasonalisation Slaughter Premium Scheme was rejected when subjected to a computer validation check because of an invalid tag. The problem has now been dealt with and it is expected that payment will be made shortly.

John Ellis

Question:

31 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will pay beef premiums to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo.

The application of the person named for grants under the December 1992 special beef premium scheme is being processed at present and if found in order payment will be made shortly. The person named did not apply for grants under the January-February 1993 or June 1993 special beef premium schemes.

Éamon Ó Cuív

Question:

32 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when arrears of headage payments and cattle premium will be made to persons (details supplied) in County Galway.

The persons named applied for cattle headage and premia grants in 1991 but only one was paid as the other was ineligible since he was not a registered herdowner under the bovine tuberculosis eradication scheme; he was, however, issued with a BTE herd number in 1992. Under the 1992 cattle headage and premia schemes separate applications were received but the two herds were found to be managed as one herd and to be intermixing on 4 September 1992. Accordingly both herds are being treated as a joint herd for the purpose of payment under these schemes and payable orders for the grants due will issue within two weeks in the joint names of the persons named.
